Anthropic and Accenture Commit $2 Billion to Embedded AI Safety Audits
The multiyear agreement gives external consultants employee-level access to model training as part of CEO Dario Amodei's framework to slow frontier AI development.

Anthropic has selected professional services firm Accenture to conduct third-party safety evaluations of its frontier artificial intelligence models, according to a report by Engadget (https://www.engadget.com/2263235/anthropic-picks-accenture-for-third-party-ai-safety-evaluations/). The initiative involves a commitment by both organizations to invest at least $1 billion each into the joint effort over the next five years.
Under the arrangement, Accenture evaluators will be embedded directly within Anthropic to observe models during training, review engineering and deployment decisions, and interview staff. The embedded personnel will be tasked with monitoring adherence to safety commitments, reporting incidents, and assessing model alignment.
The partnership represents an early implementation of a three-step framework proposed last week by Anthropic Chief Executive Officer Dario Amodei aimed at slowing the pace of frontier AI development. Amodei's proposal called for frontier AI developers to grant ongoing, employee-like access to independent third-party assessors.
Anthropic noted that Accenture's enterprise and government deployment background provides valuable perspective on commercial model use. However, the company acknowledged that embedded safety auditing is nascent, with industry standards yet to be established regarding evaluator scope, access depth, and formal reporting procedures.
Anthropic plans to announce additional evaluation partners in the coming weeks. Accenture also intends to provide embedded safety evaluation services to other AI development companies.
