OpenAI Unveils ChatGPT Space, Pages, and Collaborative Slides at DevDay

OpenAI introduced a major expansion of ChatGPT's enterprise capabilities at its fourth annual DevDay developer conference, rolling out collaborative document and presentation tools aimed squarely at workplace productivity. Reported by ZDNET, the release includes ChatGPT Space, Pages, and interactive presentation slides, positioning OpenAI in closer competition with traditional software suites like Google Workspace and enterprise tools from Anthropic.

ChatGPT Space serves as a centralized collaborative hub where human teammates can work alongside AI models and specialized agents. Central to the environment is Dots, a new agentic feature designed to execute autonomous tasks. OpenAI released ChatGPT Space on desktop and web interfaces for ChatGPT Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers, with Dots available to Pro users on the $200-per-month tier.

Alongside Space, OpenAI launched Pages, a document-editing interface tailored for multi-user collaboration that resembles a Notion landing page. The company also previewed collaborative slides, which is scheduled for release over the coming weeks. Both formats allow humans and AI agents to edit content simultaneously, conduct inline research, create graphics, and generate images. Users can draft slides through conversational prompts or import existing templates, with options to present directly from ChatGPT or export files to Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides without disrupting formatting.

During a product demonstration, an OpenAI representative tagged a Dot agent directly in workspace comments to assign feedback from a colleague and iterate on a document in real time. In his keynote address, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described Space, Pages, slides, and Dots as integrated components of a single system, though he stopped short of explicitly framing the tools as a direct competitor to Google Workspace.

To address data security concerns that often deter organizations from adopting generative AI, OpenAI introduced Private Intelligence, an enterprise data access approval layer. The architecture includes Zero Data Retention with Private Safety Processing to enable automated safety reviews without granting OpenAI personnel access to underlying content. OpenAI also announced plans to preview Private Inference this fall, which combines confidential computing with verifiable controls.

The updates arrive as AI developers increasingly consolidate standalone productivity tools into unified agentic platforms, echoing Anthropic's integration of Claude Docs, Claude Design, and Slides within its Claude Cowork environment. OpenAI had previously released ChatGPT Work in July to address non-coding workplace tasks.

"Space is built for people and AI to work on the same content together," the representative said. "Pages are a format native to ChatGPT that AI can read and create, and that teammates can edit together in real time. Today, people develop ideas in ChatGPT, move the work elsewhere to share it, then bring feedback back to ChatGPT. Space brings that process together so people can create, share, and keep working with their team and ChatGPT in one place."
