Fal Raises $1.3 Billion at $16 Billion Valuation as Inference Demand Surges
The San Francisco developer platform disclosed combined Series E and F rounds totaling $1.65 billion, doubling its valuation since April.
San Francisco-based infrastructure startup Fal has raised $1.3 billion in a Series F round that values the company at $16 billion, doubling its $8 billion valuation set in April, TechCrunch AI reported, citing an earlier report by Bloomberg.
The latest round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Nvidia, Sound Ventures, and T. Rowe Price. Alongside the Series F, Fal disclosed an earlier Series E round led by Sequoia Capital, bringing the combined capital raised across both financing transactions to $1.65 billion.
Founded in 2021 by former Coinbase machine learning lead and Oracle engineer Burkay Gur and former Amazon developer Gorkem Yurtseven, Fal hosts and serves generative AI workloads across video, image, and audio models. The platform has seen accelerating traction among developers deploying open-source models, which require dedicated inference infrastructure to execute trained models and produce outputs.
According to Bloomberg's reporting, Fal surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue earlier this year. The rapid growth mirrors expanding demand across specialized inference peers such as Baseten, Fireworks AI, and Modal, which have also raised substantial venture rounds at rising valuations.
Despite significant topline momentum across the sector, inference companies continue to navigate narrow gross margins. Operators remain exposed to elevated capital outlays required to purchase or lease high-end compute clusters, keeping infrastructure overhead high even as workload volumes mount.
