Apple Inc. crossed the $5 trillion market capitalization threshold for the first time on Oct. 14, 2026, amid continued stock gains and resilient hardware performance, according to market data compiled in an analysis published by Yahoo Finance (https://247wallst.com/investing/cryptocurrency/2026/10/18/apple-keeps-hitting-record-highs-bitcoin-hasnt-set-one-all-year-which-is-the-better-buy/?.tsrc=rss). The milestone followed an intraday peak of $348 per share on Oct. 13 and a record closing price of $343 on Oct. 16, bringing the company's year-to-date advance to 26.7% and its 12-month gain to 39.3%.

The consumer electronics maker's performance diverged sharply from cryptocurrency markets over the same stretch. Bitcoin traded near $81,977 on Oct. 18, representing a 6.8% drop year-to-date and a 23.4% decline across the trailing year. The token remains 35% beneath its all-time high of $126,080 recorded on Oct. 6, 2025, despite mounting a 26.1% rebound during the 60 days leading into October. Over a five-year horizon, Apple stock has risen 143.1% compared to Bitcoin's 31.6% gain, though Bitcoin retains a 12,800% decade-long gain against Apple's roughly 1,180% return from their October 2016 levels.

Apple's valuation run has been underpinned by cash flow generation and shareholder distributions. During its June quarter, net income grew 27.1% year-over-year to $29.8 billion, supporting $33 billion in quarterly shareholder returns, of which $25.8 billion was allocated to share repurchases. The board of directors also approved a $100 billion share repurchase authorization and raised its quarterly dividend 4% to $0.27 per share in April, establishing a dividend yield of 0.31%.

Hardware sales momentum contributed to the expansion, led by a 22% increase in iPhone revenue during the June quarter. For the subsequent September quarter, executive leadership guided overall revenue growth between 9% and 11%. Addressing component supply headwinds, Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook categorized bottlenecks as a 'demand forecast issue,' noting that iPhone and Mac demand had outpaced internal forecasts. The results extended Apple's streak of exceeding consensus earnings-per-share estimates to nine consecutive quarters.

Market headwinds remain centered on valuation multiples and upcoming product pricing tests. Apple currently trades at roughly 45 times earnings, and management cautioned that memory component costs would rise into the September quarter. Investor attention is also turning to consumer elasticity ahead of the release of the $1,999 iPhone Duo, which will test whether premium hardware pricing can sustain revenue growth within corporate projections.
