Nuclear microreactor developer Oklo went public on May 10, 2024, through a special purpose acquisition company transaction. Shares of the NYSE-listed firm debuted at $15.50 before surging to a record peak of $174.14 in October 2025. The stock has since settled near $38 per share, reflecting the challenges of valuing an enterprise that has yet to generate substantial commercial revenue or deploy its first power plants, according to an analysis by Yahoo Finance (https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/everything-know-oklos-strategy-174000831.html).

Despite the absence of current top-line contributions, Wall Street analysts project that Oklo will begin recognizing revenue as its initial power installations enter service. Financial forecasts call for revenue of $2 million in 2026, growing to $8 million in 2027 and reaching $53 million by 2028 as the first commercial Aurora Powerhouse generation units come online.

Oklo's primary product, the Aurora microreactor, takes a distinct structural approach compared to traditional nuclear facilities. While standard commercial plants typically output more than 1,000 megawatts electric (MWe), an individual Aurora reactor generates 1.5 MWe. However, the modular units can be combined to produce power plant configurations generating up to 75 MWe. Because the systems are prefabricated inside factory environments, Oklo aims to reduce capital expenditures and shorten construction timelines, making them suitable for off-grid data center applications in remote locations.

The Aurora reactor uses metallic uranium fuel pellets rather than the uranium dioxide pellets common in conventional nuclear designs. Metallic fuel offers higher energy density and thermal conductivity while being less expensive to manufacture. Operating on a closed-loop system that recycles its fuel supply, the Aurora requires refueling roughly once every decade, compared to traditional nuclear plants that undergo staged refueling cycles every two years.

Rather than acting purely as an equipment supplier to legacy utilities, Oklo plans to own and operate its facilities directly, delivering electricity via behind-the-meter agreements. This structure allows artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure companies to obtain power directly without relying on main grid connections. The business expects its initial commercial deployment of 15 to 50 MWe Aurora systems to launch in Idaho by late 2027 or early 2028.

The firm achieved several regulatory and development milestones this year. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved Oklo's Principal Design Criteria in June, and the company attained criticality at its Groves One pilot isotope-production reactor in early August after completing construction in 229 days—marking the fastest build of a U.S. non-military reactor in recent history. To secure fuel resources, Oklo signed a letter of intent with domestic supplier Centrus Energy for High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU). Commercial progress includes a partnership with Meta Platforms to provide 1.2 gigawatts at an Ohio campus starting around 2030, alongside a 14-gigawatt non-binding agreement with data center provider Switch.

Currently valued at a market capitalization of $7.4 billion, Oklo trades at approximately 139 times its projected 2028 sales figures. While the International Atomic Energy Agency anticipates global nuclear capacity could triple by 2060, Oklo faces growing competition from rival microreactor developers and small modular reactor vendors seeking to supply energy to the technology sector.
