Traders on prediction market platforms Kalshi and Polymarket are betting on a stronger U.S. employment report for September than conventional economic forecasts suggest, according to reporting by CNBC Business (https://www.cnbc.com/2026/09/29/prediction-market-traders-september-jobs-report-will-beat-estimates.html).

On Kalshi, contract pricing indicates a 60 percent probability that the U.S. economy added more than 90,000 jobs in September. Traders on the platform also place nearly 50-50 odds on monthly job additions reaching six figures.

A similar pattern has formed on Polymarket, where pricing also reflects roughly 50-50 odds of job gains reaching at least 100,000. Both platforms settle their contracts against official employment data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Those platform expectations outpace the Dow Jones consensus economist forecast, which projects an addition of 84,000 jobs for the month.

The optimistic positioning follows an August employment report that showed the U.S. added 162,000 jobs, topping expectations and rebounding from labor weakness seen earlier in the summer. That rebound provided the Federal Reserve room to focus on inflation—which remains above target—and raise interest rates at its September meeting.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release the official September employment report on Friday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Ahead of that release, the ADP national employment report is due Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. Eastern Time.

CNBC noted in its report that it maintains a commercial relationship with Kalshi involving customer acquisition and a minority investment.
