Tower Semiconductor reported record financial results for the third quarter of 2026, buoyed by accelerating enterprise demand for silicon photonics used to link artificial intelligence clusters and high-performance data centers.

Revenue for the quarter climbed 33% year over year to $526 million, up from $396 million in the third quarter of 2025 and rising 14% sequentially from $460 million. Net income more than doubled to $120 million, generating a 23% net margin compared to $54 million and a 14% margin in the prior-year period. Diluted earnings per share reached $1.05, according to earnings call highlights published by [Yahoo Finance](https://www.marketbeat.com/instant-alerts/transcript-tower-semiconductor-q3-earnings-call-highlights-2026-11-02/?utm_source=yahoofinance&utm_medium=yahoofinance&.tsrc=rss).

Chief Executive Officer Russell Ellwanger said management expects fourth-quarter revenue to reach approximately $600 million at the midpoint of guidance. Achieving that threshold would push full-year 2026 revenue to roughly $2 billion, compared with $1.57 billion generated across 2025.

The primary growth catalyst remains optical infrastructure. Third-quarter revenue from silicon photonics reached about $240 million, representing an annualized run rate approaching $1 billion. Ellwanger projected that the segment's annualized run rate will surpass $1.1 billion in the fourth quarter. To meet surging orders for optical interconnects, the contract chipmaker is doubling its silicon photonics manufacturing capacity across four sites by year-end, establishing capacity to support sequential revenue growth through early 2027.

Tower is also installing equipment for its Track-1 300-millimeter cleanroom expansion in Japan, where machinery has been ordered ahead of scheduled volume production in the third quarter of 2027. Once operational, total silicon photonics start capacity will triple compared to third-quarter shipment baselines. Ellwanger estimated that this footprint could eventually support an annual silicon photonics run rate exceeding $2.8 billion on a start-rate basis, excluding potential contributions from integrated laser offerings. Customer volume commitments now stretch through 2029, when a follow-on Track-2 expansion in Japan is slated to begin, with management noting that all expansions will remain self-funded.

Beyond traditional pluggable transceivers, Tower is sampling near-packaged optics with more than 10 major customers. The company anticipates meaningful near-packaged optics shipments beginning in the second half of 2027 at higher initial average selling prices. On the heterogeneous integration front, Tower initiated commercial fabrication for NewPhotonics using indium phosphide laser chiplets bonded directly to silicon photonics wafers, alongside die-to-wafer work incorporating thin-film lithium niobate for 400-gigabit-per-lane designs.

Across its broader analog portfolio, Tower reported record quarterly RF-SOI revenue from its 300-millimeter manufacturing corridor in Agrate, Italy, as well as an all-time high in product tape-outs for Fab 10. Revenue from power management BCD platforms rose roughly 10% year over year on data center, automotive, and mobile demand, with blended BCD contract pricing forecast to increase 20% in 2027. Utilization across the company's 200-millimeter fabs hovered between 85% and 90%, while its 300-millimeter capacity ran above full target utilization.

Chief Financial Officer Oren Shirazi reported that quarterly gross profit jumped 92% year over year to a record $179 million, while operating profit rose 2.5 times to $127 million. Tower is currently executing a $920 million self-funded capital investment campaign spanning plants in Israel, Japan, Texas, and Newport Beach. Roughly 65% of that capital has been disbursed, with the remaining 35% scheduled across the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first half of 2027. Shirazi said the business anticipates a full return on the $920 million outlay within one year.

Supported by long-term customer agreements extending into 2029, Tower raised its multi-year business target. The updated model aims for $3.6 billion in annual revenue, $1.63 billion in gross profit, and $1.38 billion in operating profit. That outlook projects annual net profit of $1.2 billion, which would represent a 33% net margin assuming steady 85% fab utilization once planned capacity installations and qualifications are completed.
