Daniel Ek’s Neko Health Brings $700M Preventative Body Scan Play to the US
As Spotify’s co-founder expands his health startup stateside, venture investors are pouring hundreds of millions into preventative diagnostics.

Neko Health, the preventative healthcare startup backed by Spotify founder Daniel Ek, has raised $700 million to build a business centered on body scanning as it expands its operations into the United States, according to reporting and analysis from TechCrunch Startups.
The startup’s U.S. arrival lands amid expanding venture interest and capital allocation in preventative healthcare infrastructure. Alongside Neko Health, AI research lab Midjourney is developing its own body scanner, while preventative health platform Function Health has also secured significant backing.
The venture thesis behind body-scanning startups was examined on TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, where host Dominic-Madori Davis spoke with Farooq Abbasi, founder and general partner of Preface Ventures and an investor in Neko Health.
During the discussion, Abbasi and Davis explored how Neko Health positions itself against competing consumer-health startups and what operational and systemic milestones must occur before commercial body scanning can integrate into the broader healthcare system.
