Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic expanded its leading position in enterprise spending during July, securing a 43.5% market share in corporate token purchases and broadening its competitive gap over primary rival OpenAI, according to research published in Ramp's July AI index.

The data report, authored by Ramp analyst Ara Kharazian and first reported by Techmeme, tracks enterprise purchasing trends and corporate spending habits across businesses utilizing the spend management platform. The latest metrics point to accelerating commercial adoption of Anthropic's technology relative to competing model providers.

Despite Anthropic's overall gain in aggregate spending share, individual model adoption rates varied considerably across corporate deployments. The Ramp index revealed that Fable 5 represented just 6% of all artificial intelligence tokens purchased by business clients throughout the month.

Researchers attributed the limited token uptake for Fable 5 primarily to cost considerations. The report noted that elevated pricing for the model served as the main barrier preventing higher commercial consumption volumes among corporate accounts.

The monthly metrics from Ramp offer a direct snapshot of business buying decisions as enterprise technology leaders measure model performance against ongoing software expenditures. The findings demonstrate that corporate clients are actively adjusting their procurement strategies based on price points and operational efficiency.

The dataset, reflected in Techmeme industry archives from August 13, 2026, highlights how enterprise buyers are balancing compute capability with financial discipline as competition intensifies across the artificial intelligence infrastructure landscape.
