Meta Releases Dedicated Mac App for Meta AI and Adds Workspace Integrations
The social media giant expands its AI assistant with a desktop application for macOS alongside direct connections to Instagram, Facebook, ad campaigns, and Google Workspace.

Meta has released a dedicated desktop application for Meta AI on Apple's macOS operating system, accompanied by new direct integrations across its social networks, advertising suite, and third-party productivity tools, as first reported by Emma Roth of The Verge.
The launch of the standalone Mac software brings Meta AI to desktop environments, allowing users to interact with the conversational assistant outside of web browsers and mobile devices. The release reflects Meta's broader strategy to expand the distribution of its proprietary artificial intelligence assistant across desktop platforms.
Alongside the software release, Meta disclosed that Meta AI can now interface directly with user accounts on Instagram and Facebook. The integration enables the conversational assistant to access platform features and user data across both social media services.
Meta has also added direct operational capabilities for Meta AI within Meta ad campaigns. The functionality allows marketers and enterprise customers to utilize the assistant directly within Meta's ad management and campaign infrastructure.
Beyond its internal product ecosystem, Meta has introduced direct integration with Google Workspace. The cross-platform connection links Meta AI to Google's suite of cloud productivity and collaboration tools.
The software expansion and platform connections were detailed in reporting by The Verge and documented on Techmeme on August 19, 2026, marking a significant push to increase the reach and functional utility of Meta AI across consumer and business workflows.
