Cornelis, a provider of artificial intelligence networking technology originally spun out of Intel, revealed on Monday that it has secured $205 million in a new funding round. The investment was led by IAG Capital Partners as the company seeks to expand its hardware footprint in high-performance computing clusters.

Alongside the capital infusion, the startup unveiled its latest product offering, dubbed Active Compute Fabric. The platform is designed to tackle data transfer bottlenecks that frequently leave graphics processing units idle while waiting to receive input information across heavy computational workloads.

According to details first reported by TechCrunch Startups, the newly announced networking technology allows integrated silicon components to process computation and transmit data simultaneously. By enabling concurrent operations, Cornelis aims to significantly cut down hardware latency and improve overall data center efficiency.

The company was initially established as an independent entity in 2020 after separating from Intel Corporation. Since its launch, Cornelis has focused on developing interconnect solutions tailored specifically to modern artificial intelligence infrastructure and massive data scale-out environments.

Cornelis is positioning its architecture around open standards, offering operational compatibility across a broad range of graphics processors and specialized hardware accelerators from different silicon vendors. This approach contrasts directly with market leader Nvidia, whose proprietary networking systems are closely integrated with its own accelerator ecosystem.

While Nvidia hardware can technically operate alongside third-party fabric systems, its software stack is engineered to incentivize customers to remain within its proprietary environment. Cornelis is targeting this market barrier by attempting to provide enterprise clients with greater architectural flexibility.

The company confirmed that it has already begun shipping its current product generation to customer environments. Furthermore, Cornelis is actively developing a next-generation iteration of its networking fabric architecture, which is slated for release later this year.
