Kalshi Prediction Markets Signal Bitcoin Rally May Stall Near Current Levels by Year-End
Despite a 20% weekly surge pushing bitcoin above $77,000, prediction market traders expect the cryptocurrency to finish 2026 around $75,000.

Bitcoin experienced a sharp price surge over the past week, climbing more than 20% to touch its highest valuation since May. However, participants on the derivative prediction platform Kalshi project that the cryptocurrency is likely to end 2026 near its current trading range rather than continuing its upward trajectory.
Based on a weighted average of active binary options on the Kalshi exchange, speculators currently project that bitcoin will close out 2026 at approximately $75,000. The consensus figure suggests market participants expect the digital currency's recent momentum to cool slightly over the coming months.
According to reporting by CNBC Business, Kalshi structures these sentiment predictions around binary trades, where platform users place "yes" or "no" orders on whether bitcoin will settle within designated $5,000 price brackets. The platform's year-end contracts are scheduled to settle at midnight on Jan. 1, 2027, utilizing independent benchmark price feeds provided by CF Benchmarks.
The cryptocurrency's steep rise this week was fueled by a pair of significant policy and macroeconomic catalysts. The primary trigger was an action by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to curb a steep sell-off in the sovereign bond market, which reduced pressure across global risk-on financial assets.
Simultaneously, investor confidence was boosted by an executive gathering at the White House. During the meeting, President Donald Trump joined prominent digital asset executives and regulatory officials to lobby lawmakers for the passage of the Clarity Act, a proposed legislative framework designed to establish explicit market structure rules for digital tokens.
The multi-day rally has notably raised trader expectations on Kalshi relative to earlier in the week. Prior to Wednesday's market movement, contract pricing on the prediction platform pointed toward a probable year-end bitcoin price of around $66,000.
Even with that upward revision in sentiment, the updated $75,000 consensus represents a slight retreat from current market conditions. Bitcoin was recently trading above $77,000 following the macroeconomic interventions and regulatory developments.
CNBC Business, which first detailed the contract data, noted in its coverage that the media organization maintains a commercial arrangement with Kalshi involving customer acquisition programs as well as a minority equity investment in the platform.
