Representative Michael Rulli, a Republican congressman representing Ohio, executed a short-term trade involving shares of Alphabet Inc., selling tens of thousands of dollars of the tech giant's equity just months after making purchases. The transaction, detailed in financial disclosure filings, highlights ongoing tracking of congressional stock movements in major public technology companies.

According to reporting first published by Yahoo Finance and financial tracking from Benzinga's Government Trades platform, Rulli disclosed selling between $50,000 and $100,000 worth of Alphabet Class A stock on Aug. 24. The sale included shares acquired two months prior in June, as well as potential existing holdings in the company.

Calculations based on disclosure bands indicate the Ohio lawmaker acquired between 85.74 and 88.69 shares across two separate trades in June. Rulli is estimated to have allocated $15,000 toward each of those June transactions, bringing his total purchase value for those acquisitions to $30,000.

On the Aug. 24 sale date, Alphabet shares traded within an intraday range of $342.349 to $351.60. At those price levels, the total value of the shares purchased in June was evaluated between $29,365.09 and $31,183.40 at the time of disposal.

Depending on the specific execution timing within each day's trading range, the performance of the June-purchased position ranges from a loss of $634.91, representing a 2.1% decline, to a gain of $1,183.40, or a 3.9% return over the two-month holding period.

Data logged by market analysis service Quiver Quantitative shows Rulli has completed 33 total stock trades valued at approximately $331,000 since 2024. So far in 2026, the congressman has recorded $211,000 in total trading volume, with sales accounting for $139,000 of that aggregate amount.

The representative's previous history with Alphabet stock includes a single trade on July 31, 2025, when he disclosed a sale valued between $1,000 and $15,000. Public records indicate Rulli's overall trading activity remains focused primarily on Magnificent Seven tech companies and other high-capitalization blue-chip stocks.

Congressional trading in large-cap technology stocks continues to attract scrutiny from market participants and transparency advocates monitoring legislative stock positions for potential conflict-of-interest concerns.
