BMW Prices 2027 Electric 3 Series Below Comparable Gas Model
The battery-electric i3 50 xDrive will start at $61,500, undercutting the equivalent gasoline-powered M350 xDrive by $4,400.

BMW has structured pricing for its 2027 3 Series lineup such that an electric version will retail for less than an equivalent gas-powered variant, marking a concrete example of upfront cost parity in comparable vehicle trims.
According to a report by TechCrunch (https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/30/bmw-built-the-same-car-for-gas-and-electric-the-ev-is-4400-cheaper/), the all-electric 2027 BMW i3 50 xDrive will cost $61,500, while the gas-powered M350 xDrive is priced at $65,900. Neither price includes destination charges. Both all-wheel-drive configurations feature similar power outputs, styling, and market positioning, giving the battery-electric vehicle a $4,400—or 6.7 percent—price advantage.
Automotive analysts have projected for years that electric vehicles would reach sticker price parity with combustion equivalents during the late 2020s, with BloombergNEF projecting that tipping point would arrive around 2026. Directly comparing retail pricing has historically been challenging because manufacturers rarely offer matched designs and trim tiers across both powertrains.
The two models are engineered on different architectures. The electric i3 utilizes BMW's latest chassis and technology suite, whereas the internal combustion 3 Series runs on an updated version of an existing platform.
The 2027 3 Series lineup still includes lower-priced gas trims that currently have no direct electric counterparts. The base gas 2027 BMW 330 is priced at $49,900, and the 330 xDrive starts at $51,900.
On estimated driving performance, BMW claims the electric i3 offers 468 miles of range on a full charge and fast charging capable of restoring 208 miles in 10 minutes. By comparison, the gas-powered all-wheel-drive 3 Series is expected to provide roughly 450 miles per tank.
