Clicks Communicator to Ship in December With Spec Bump Ahead of $649 Price Hike
The startup's keyboard-equipped Android smartphone gains 12GB of RAM and a larger battery before an October 1 price increase.
Hardware startup Clicks will begin shipping its debut smartphone, the Clicks Communicator, in December 2026, roughly a year after introducing the device at CES 2026, as reported by Engadget (https://www.engadget.com/2262962/clicks-communicator-shipments-begin-in-december/).
Ahead of the rollout, Clicks increased the device's hardware specifications. The production model will ship with 12GB of RAM, up from the previously planned 8GB, and a 4,350mAh battery, upgraded from 4,000mAh. Clicks rates the battery for more than 800 charge cycles. The device will run Android 17 at launch, with committed platform upgrades through Android 20 and five years of security patches.
The Communicator features a BlackBerry-style physical keyboard below a 4.03-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display. Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, the phone includes 256GB of internal storage with microSD expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The keyboard surface is touch-sensitive to support swiping and scrolling gestures, while the spacebar integrates a fingerprint sensor. Layout options include English QWERTY, French AZERTY, German QWERTZ, Korean, and Arabic.
Rather than targeting primary flagship devices, Clicks is marketing the Communicator as a companion phone geared toward communication rather than media consumption. Optical hardware includes a single 50-megapixel rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera.
Pre-orders remain available at the original $499 introductory price until October 1, when the retail price increases to $649. Reservation holders can now configure color options, regional keyboard layouts, and charging covers on the company's website.
