Software developer MacPaw has introduced an inbox management feature called Email Cleanup into its CleanMyMac application, targeting accumulated clutter across connected Google accounts, according to a report from Mashable Tech (https://mashable.com/tech/cleanmymac-email-cleanup-tool-gmail-free-trial).

Accessible through the My Tools sidebar in the application, the feature operates exclusively with Google's Gmail service at launch. The tool organizes messages into categorized groups, including newsletters, promotions, subscriptions, spam, abandoned drafts, and custom Smart Cleanup suggestions.

The software allows users to mass-clear marketing blasts, archive older conversations, and execute single-click unsubscribes from mailing lists. The utility also identifies large email attachments to help free up storage shared across connected Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos accounts.

To preserve privacy, MacPaw designed Email Cleanup to operate entirely through metadata evaluation rather than reading message content. The application inspects email headers, file sizes, and timestamps without reading, storing, or sharing message text, connecting via official Google APIs that users can disconnect at any time.

The tool supports multiple Gmail accounts simultaneously, letting users manage personal and professional inboxes from a single interface. No messages are deleted, archived, or unsubscribed without explicit user confirmation, and deleted emails are routed to the standard Gmail Trash folder, preserving a 30-day window for message recovery.

MacPaw is offering Email Cleanup as part of its CleanMyMac Annual Plan, which includes a seven-day free trial and costs $3.33 per month, billed annually at $39.96. The company also offers an Essential Trio tier at $1.66 per month ($19.95 billed annually), which covers basic on-device Mac cleaning without the email management features.
