Sling TV Drops Short-Term Cable Passes
The Dish-owned streaming service has retired its daily and weekly pass options, which let users watch live channels without a full monthly subscription.

Dish-owned streaming service Sling TV has discontinued its Sling Pass offering, ending an option that let viewers purchase temporary access to linear cable channels without signing up for a full monthly plan.
The feature, announced last year, gave users the choice of purchasing a single-day, weekend, or week-long pass to view networks including ESPN and CNN. As reported by The Verge , citing industry outlet The Desk, the company has retired the passes and notified customers.
Shortly after Sling Pass launched, media companies Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery sued Sling TV over the feature. A federal judge later ruled against Disney's request for a preliminary injunction to block the passes while the case moved forward.
"Sling was built to give our customers the ultimate control over their entertainment, and Sling Passes delivered on that promise for millions," Sling TV said in a statement on its website. "Though Sling Passes are no longer available, we look forward to continuing to innovate and showing our customers new ways to experience the content they love."
