Whoop Drops Subscription Barrier for Advanced Labs Blood Testing Feature
The screenless wearable maker is expanding access to Quest Diagnostics blood panels and adding GRAIL's Galleri cancer test amid growing competition.

Fitness wearable manufacturer Whoop is eliminating the separate subscription requirement previously needed to utilize its Advanced Labs health screening service, making the diagnostic feature accessible to all device users, as first reported by Engadget.
While access to the platform's diagnostic portal will no longer be locked behind an additional paid membership, the physical lab tests themselves are not free of charge. Users electing to complete health screenings will continue to pay out-of-pocket fees, with blood tests administered by Quest Diagnostics starting at approximately $150 per screening.
The Advanced Labs feature provides Whoop wearers with detailed physiological data gathered through blood work. The diagnostic metrics cover several critical areas of wellness, including cardiovascular performance, metabolic indicators, hormone balances, and inflammatory markers within the body.
Alongside the paywall removal, Whoop has expanded its diagnostic suite with the integration of Galleri, a multi-cancer early detection test. The addition allows members to request specialized screening capabilities directly through the company's expanded Advanced Labs portfolio.
The decision to drop the subscription barrier comes as Whoop navigates an increasingly crowded market for screenless health and fitness tracking hardware. Competitors have been ramping up efforts to capture market share in the screenless wearable category with recent device launches and feature rollouts.
Major hardware manufacturers including Garmin and Google's Fitbit unit have both released recent updates in the space, heightening competition for dedicated fitness trackers. By opening diagnostic insights to a broader portion of its user base, Whoop appears focused on enhancing product value and maintaining customer retention.
The move underscores a broader shift among consumer health technology platforms toward integrating third-party clinical diagnostic services, offering wearers a deeper look into systemic biometric data alongside daily wearable metrics.
