Anthropic's Claude AI model has secured the top position in consumer satisfaction among artificial intelligence platforms, outperforming flagship offerings from Google and OpenAI, according to a recent five-month market research study conducted by YouGov and first reported by TechRadar Pro.

The research, which surveyed live consumers in the United Kingdom between March 1, 2026, and July 31, 2026, utilized YouGov's BrandIndex tracking system to monitor public perception and usability sentiment across major conversational agents. The evaluation generated two distinct metrics: overall satisfaction across current and former users, as well as a direct comparative analysis measuring satisfaction shifts between active users and those who have discontinued using the services.

In the primary ranking of the top ten AI assistants evaluated by both active and historical users, Claude established a clear lead with an overall satisfaction rating of 56.2 points. Google Gemini claimed second place with a score of 46.5, closely followed by OpenAI's ChatGPT at 46.0 points. Enterprise and consumer voice platforms occupied the middle tier of the survey, with Amazon's Alexa registering a 42.6 rating and Microsoft Copilot recording 37.2 points.

At the bottom of the consumer sentiment index, dedicated AI platforms and legacy mobile assistants posted notably weaker results. Both Apple’s Siri assistant and xAI’s Grok, developed by Elon Musk, registered low satisfaction levels among respondents, failing to deliver results that met user expectations despite the high market visibility of their parent organizations.

The YouGov data revealed notable strength for Anthropic regarding retention and historical brand impression. Claude recorded the highest satisfaction metric among former users of any tool included in the survey, while simultaneously securing the second-highest score among current active consumers. This dynamic suggests that even users who no longer actively utilize the platform maintain a positive perception of its output quality relative to market alternatives.

Conversely, several competing platforms demonstrated extreme variance when comparing active users against churned accounts. The report highlighted that the most pronounced performance drops between current and former users occurred with ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Grok. Active users rated ChatGPT 63.7 points higher than former users did, while DeepSeek showed a 62.5-point gap between current and past users.

Grok exhibited a similarly steep decline, with active user ratings outpacing former user sentiment by 62.4 points. Among former users specifically, Grok plummeted into negative sentiment territory, recording a satisfaction rating of -4.7 points.

The survey findings also underscore an implicit variable regarding how consumers access artificial intelligence products. The study noted that raw satisfaction metrics do not explicitly account for the operational differences between deeply integrated, default system assistants—such as Apple's Siri or Amazon's Alexa—and specialized AI destinations like Claude or ChatGPT, which require users to intentionally navigate to a standalone application or website.
