Anthropic Stock Match for Employee Charity Gifts Reached Over $660M in Six Months, Report Says
The startup's equity-matching philanthropic program is expected to reach billions after an IPO, diluting existing shareholders.

Anthropic matched employee charitable donations with more than $660 million in company stock over the six-month period ending in March, according to a report by The Information's Cory Weinberg, aggregated by Techmeme (https://www.techmeme.com/261004/p18#a261004p18).
The equity-matching program allows employees at the artificial intelligence firm to pair their personal charitable gifts with corporate stock grants. As Anthropic's private valuation has surged, the nominal value of those equity allocations has expanded in tandem.
According to sources cited in the report, the total volume of stock allocated through the charitable matching initiative is projected to reach billions of dollars following an initial public offering.
The scale of the stock match is expected to dilute existing shareholders as additional shares are issued to satisfy the charitable commitments, altering ownership stakes held by early backers and employees prior to public trading.
