OpenAI has begun rolling out an interface update dubbed "Intelligent UI" that integrates interactive visuals directly into ChatGPT conversations alongside the release of its GPT-6 model, according to reporting by TechCrunch AI (https://techcrunch.com/2026/10/07/chatgpt-is-getting-a-lot-more-visual-with-the-launch-of-a-new-interface/).

Rather than generating static imagery, the new interface renders interactive components within the conversation flow. The system can serve tappable buttons, task-specific calculators, interactive charts, and editable graphs that users can manipulate directly inside the chat window.

OpenAI stated that the primary objective of Intelligent UI is to make learning complex subjects easier. During a briefing with journalists, company staff demonstrated how the system generates diagrams on demand to explain abstract concepts. In one example, product manager Aarush Selvan prompted ChatGPT to explore how an airplane wing generates lift, which generated explanatory aerodynamic diagrams.

Selvan noted during the call that while ChatGPT has historically functioned as a text-based interface, the company aims to help users complete practical tasks where text alone is insufficient, ranging from trip planning to educational research. OpenAI also demonstrated visual aids for recipe preparation, bicycle mechanics, hiking route maps, and a personal savings calculator.

The graphical density of responses is configurable. Users who prefer standard text or fewer visual elements can adjust settings to dial back interface components.

The feature rolled out globally on Wednesday for GPT-6 users on Pro, Plus, Business, and Enterprise plans, with availability expanding to free accounts and the lower-cost Go tier on Thursday.
