SpaceXAI Backs Omarchy Linux Distro With $1.5 Million in Grok Tokens
The AI company joins the Omacom Foundation as a Founding Corporate Patron to support code reviews and bug patching.

SpaceXAI has joined the Omacom Foundation as a Founding Corporate Patron and donated $1.5 million worth of Grok tokens to David Heinemeier Hansson's Linux distribution, Omarchy, according to a report from The Verge (https://www.theverge.com/tech/1008148/spacexai-omarchy-grok-david-heinemeier-hansson).
According to a blog post by Hansson announcing the partnership, the Omarchy project will use the Grok compute tokens primarily to accelerate development, review code, and patch bugs.
Hansson, the Danish entrepreneur who created the Ruby on Rails web framework and co-founded the firm behind Basecamp, has faced backlash over anti-immigration commentary published on his blog. In a July post, Hansson compared immigrants to wolves, writing, "When wolves get out of control, you shoot them."
SpaceXAI is not the first technology firm to face scrutiny over backing Hansson's open-source project. Password manager maker 1Password and web infrastructure provider Cloudflare previously drew criticism for contributing to Omarchy. When asked about those contributions by Nilay Patel on the Decoder podcast, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince said he did not view it as his job to "police different people's political beliefs."
