President Donald Trump has announced the creation of an interagency task force named the "Super Intelligence Force" to coordinate federal policy on artificial intelligence, according to reporting by Engadget (https://www.engadget.com/2276762/trump-announces-an-ai-czar-for-his-newly-created-super-intelligence-force/).

Trump selected Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead the panel. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the group is tasked with coordinating federal efforts to ensure the United States continues to lead the world in "Super Intelligence," adopting the phrase as an explicit rebranding of artificial intelligence.

As first reported by The Wall Street Journal and cited by Engadget, the task force's initial mandate is to deliver a report detailing the risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence within 120 days. The panel will report directly to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

Alongside Clayton, the task force includes Federal Trade Commission Chair Andrew Ferguson, Department of Defense Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.

According to Trump's announcement, the group is slated to consult with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and "super intelligence companies." The formation follows an earlier proposal for an "AI Force" and arrives as several technology chief executives continue to call for a development slowdown.
