Elon Musk Projects SpaceX Will Surpass $500 Billion in Annualized Run-Rate Revenue by Late 2027
The internal target outstrips the most aggressive Wall Street model by more than $200 billion despite recent market pullbacks.

SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk has floated an internal revenue expectation that dramatically eclipses institutional forecasts, estimating that the aerospace company's annual recurring revenue could top $500 billion by December 2027.
Musk shared the projection during remarks at the Baron Investment Conference, with his statements relayed on X by market observer Sawyer Merritt and detailed in an analysis carried by Yahoo Finance (https://247wallst.com/investing/2026/11/06/musk-says-spacex-will-hit-a-revenue-number-that-not-one-of-its-37-analysts-believes/?.tsrc=rss). Musk qualified the estimate as an informal calculation rather than a binding guarantee, while noting that an eventual $1 trillion run rate remains possible.
The target sets a benchmark well above institutional consensus. Across 37 equity analysts tracking SpaceX, consensus models project fiscal 2027 revenue at approximately $180 billion. The Street's top forecast stands at $290 billion, while the conservative end sits near $72 billion. Musk's $500 billion baseline is roughly 2.8 times the consensus average and sits $210 billion above the most bullish analyst estimate.
The comparison highlights an accounting distinction between run-rate pace and total recognized annual sales. Annual recurring revenue, or ARR, measures financial velocity by multiplying a single month of recurring contracts by 12. Because Wall Street analysts model recognized revenue across an entire fiscal year, reaching a $500 billion run rate in December 2027 would still yield a substantially lower booked total for the calendar year.
Reaching that velocity will require massive operational acceleration. In the third quarter, SpaceX posted revenue of $14.60 billion, beating consensus expectations of $13.02 billion. That quarterly figure translates to an annualized run rate of $58.4 billion, meaning Musk's December 2027 milestone implies an 8.6-fold expansion over approximately 14 months.
Growth has been driven primarily by data infrastructure and satellite telecommunications. SpaceX's AI Solutions and Infrastructure division booked $7.60 billion in the third quarter, up 830% year over year. Connectivity revenue rose 69% to $5.20 billion, supported by Starlink growing its consumer subscriber base to 13.6 million. Equity analysts have responded by lifting earnings expectations, bringing average fiscal 2027 earnings per share estimates to $4.0304 from $0.5696 three months ago, with fourth-quarter revenue consensus pegged at $22.9 billion.
The company's commercial scale widens the divide with public space technology peers. Launch rival Rocket Lab posted record second-quarter revenue of $234 million, reflecting 62% year-over-year growth, alongside a $31.2 billion market capitalization. AST SpaceMobile reiterated 2026 revenue guidance between $150.0 million and $200.0 million against a $9.7 billion valuation. SpaceX commands an estimated total market valuation of roughly $1.76 trillion.
Despite aggressive forward guidance, shares have faced volatility. Trading at $133.56 following an 8.04% daily gain, the stock remains down 22.31% from $171.92 a month ago, reflecting post-midterm market adjustments reported by CNBC.
Investors will evaluate Musk's trajectory against key near-term execution tests: fourth-quarter results against Street targets, the expected closing of an 800 MHz spectrum transaction in the first half of 2027, and the planned expansion of the COLOSSUS II facility to 1.7 gigawatts.
