Orion Energy Lifts Fiscal 2027 Revenue Guidance on $10M–$15M Retail IoT and LED Program
The commercial lighting and IoT provider raised its annual target to between $100 million and $102 million after expanding an existing retail account.

Orion Energy Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: OESX) raised its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance on September 15, 2026, following a commitment from a longtime retail client for an additional project program estimated at $10 million to $15 million, according to a report from Yahoo Finance (https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/orion-energy-oesx-raises-guidance-195100572.html). The scope covers interior LED lighting retrofits and Internet of Things installations at store locations the company has not previously updated.
Following the retail commitment, Orion raised its revenue guidance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, to a range of $100 million to $102 million, up from its prior forecast of $95 million to $97 million. The adjustment lifts the midpoint of full-year revenue expectations by $5 million, or approximately 5.2 percent, and incorporates the anticipated contributions from the expanded program.
The higher guidance builds on improved profitability during the fiscal first quarter. Orion generated first-quarter revenue of $25.7 million and net income of $2.0 million, reversing a net loss of $1.2 million in the prior-year period. First-quarter gross margin widened to 34.6 percent from 30.1 percent, driven by pricing adjustments, cost controls, and a favorable net tariff effect that lowered cost of goods sold by roughly $0.3 million.
Management noted that the estimated $10 million to $15 million program value does not represent immediate, fully ordered revenue. Instead, the commitment is expected to convert through discrete purchase orders subject to customer timing, site access, and completed installations.
Delivery timing remains concentrated in the latter part of the fiscal year. A significant majority of the project's revenue is scheduled for the fiscal second half. In the near term, Orion expects fiscal second-quarter revenue to decline sequentially from the first quarter's $25.7 million, making full-year guidance realization dependent on second-half execution, installation capacity, and realized project gross margins.
Filings recorded prior to the guidance update showed institutional participation easing: three hedge funds held shares of Orion at the close of the second quarter of 2026, down from five funds in the previous quarter.
