RF Industries, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RFIL) reported a 21% increase in revenue for its fiscal third quarter ended July 31, 2026, driven by higher demand for engineered solutions and customized cabling. According to financial figures reported by Yahoo Finance (https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/rf-industries-rfil-reports-stronger-174049668.html), quarterly revenue reached $23.96 million, while operating income rose to approximately $1.8 million from $720,000 in the prior-year period.

Profitability expanded faster than top-line sales, with gross margin increasing to 35.6% from 34% a year earlier. Management attributed the margin expansion to a shift in product mix toward customized cabling and integrated systems. Those offerings require greater engineering involvement and support larger project deployments than standard hardware component sales, enabling the company to realize higher margins per contract.

Despite the stronger profit margins, net incoming order volume trailed recognized sales during the period. Third-quarter bookings totaled $22.5 million, producing a book-to-bill ratio of approximately 0.94, meaning the company logged roughly 94 cents in new orders for every dollar of recognized revenue. A persistent shortfall in bookings relative to shipments would require the business to draw down existing backlogs to maintain revenue run rates.

Backlog stood at $18.6 million at the end of the quarter on July 31, 2026, before rising to $19.8 million as of September 14. That $1.2 million post-quarter expansion indicates an uptick in order intake heading into the fourth quarter, though full-quarter performance will determine whether net order intake keeps pace with shipments.

Institutional ownership data cited by Yahoo Finance from Insider Monkey showed 14 hedge funds held positions in RF Industries at the end of the second quarter of 2026, up from 12 funds in the prior quarter. Sustaining earnings growth will depend on whether future bookings replace delivered projects at comparable gross margins.
