Snowflake Inc. delivered strong second-quarter fiscal 2027 financial results on Wednesday, marking its third consecutive quarter of accelerating top-line expansion and prompting a sharp upward revision to its full-year outlook. The cloud data warehouse enterprise saw its stock surge by more than 20% in extended trading following the report, lifting its share price to approximately $338 per share and bringing its total market capitalization to roughly $116 billion. The immediate market rally reflects growing investor optimism surrounding enterprise data spending and expanding customer adoption across the company's artificial intelligence product portfolio.

For the full fiscal year ending January 31, 2027, Snowflake management revised its full-year product revenue projection to approximately $6.07 billion. That updated forecast represents a 36% year-over-year growth rate, marking a substantial increase from the 27% growth rate executive leadership originally targeted when opening the fiscal year. The revised outlook follows a previous guidance increase issued in May, making this the company's second guidance raise of the year. Alongside boosted top-line expectations, the cloud software vendor raised its full-year non-GAAP operating margin outlook to 14.5%, up from its prior forecast of 13.5%.

During the fiscal second quarter ended July 31, Snowflake generated $1.49 billion in product revenue, representing a 37% increase compared to the corresponding period a year earlier. The performance builds on sequential growth acceleration recorded over recent fiscal periods, following a 30% expansion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 and a 34% increase in the first quarter of fiscal 2027. Chief Financial Officer Brian Robins attributed the multi-quarter momentum to sustained workload demand within the company's core data cloud platform, combined with a meaningful increase in revenue generated from its newer AI tools.

Underpinning Snowflake’s financial acceleration is a strong net revenue retention rate, which held steady at 126% for a second consecutive quarter, up from 125% recorded at the end of fiscal 2026. The net retention metric demonstrates that existing customer accounts are increasing their spending rapidly enough to supply the majority of the company's projected revenue expansion. Meanwhile, remaining performance obligations—which represent contracted business that Snowflake has not yet recognized as revenue—reached $9.00 billion at the end of the second quarter, marking a 30% year-over-year increase. That RPO expansion pace, however, reflects a moderate slowdown from the 42% growth logged at the end of fiscal 2026 and the 38% pace reported in fiscal Q1.

Enterprise adoption of Snowflake's specialized artificial intelligence tools served as a key growth catalyst during the quarter, according to financial analysis first reported by Yahoo Finance. The company's AI coding assistant, known as CoCo, surpassed 9,100 active account deployments, adding more than 2,000 enterprise accounts over a three-month period. Although Snowflake does not break out standalone dollar amounts for its individual AI software features, the accelerated customer uptake indicates that enterprise clients are increasingly embedding generative AI tools into their core software development and data workflows.

The company's sustained top-line momentum has drawn attention to its multi-year targets, specifically whether Snowflake can cross $8 billion in product revenue in fiscal 2028. Having delivered $4.47 billion in product revenue in fiscal 2026—up 29% year over year—the revised $6.07 billion target for fiscal 2027 sets a higher launchpad for subsequent fiscal periods. Reaching the $8 billion threshold in fiscal 2028 would require annual product revenue growth of approximately 32%, meaning Snowflake could experience a growth deceleration of roughly four percentage points from this year's 36% guidance while still clearing the milestone.

Because Snowflake relies on a consumption-based commercial model where enterprise clients purchase capacity upfront and draw down computing resources as workloads run, recognized revenue directly tracks actual operational usage. As a result, industry observers track metrics like remaining performance obligations and net expansion rates as early indicators of enterprise demand. If growth were to pull back to the initial 27% pace outlined at the start of this year, fiscal 2028 product revenue would land near $7.7 billion, falling short of the $8 billion milestone.

At its current valuation of roughly $116 billion, Snowflake trades at approximately 19 times its guided product revenue for the current fiscal year. That premium sales multiple suggests that public markets have already priced in several years of strong operational execution and elevated enterprise cloud consumption. However, management's historical pattern of setting conservative baseline targets before subsequently raising guidance suggests the company remains well-positioned to maintain its growth trajectory as enterprise AI deployment matures.
