Snowflake Inc. saw its stock surge 22% during extended trading on Wednesday following the release of second-quarter financial results and forward guidance that comfortably topped Wall Street estimates.

According to financial details first reported by CNBC Business, the cloud data management provider posted a 35% year-over-year revenue increase for its fiscal second quarter, which concluded on July 31. The enterprise software developer pared its net loss to $191.7 million, or 55 cents per share, showing marked improvement over the $297.9 million net loss, or 89 cents per share, recorded during the corresponding period a year earlier.

Company leadership attributed part of the quarterly gains to accelerating enterprise adoption of CoCo, Snowflake’s artificial intelligence coding assistant. Customer accounts utilizing the AI tool expanded by more than 2,000 within the three-month period, lifting total CoCo deployments across its platform to 9,100 accounts.

Looking toward the fiscal third quarter, Snowflake projected product revenue to reach approximately $1.59 billion. That outlook clears the $1.50 billion consensus figure compiled by StreetAccount analysts prior to the report.

Management simultaneously raised its full-year operational targets. Snowflake now anticipates generating $6.07 billion in annual product revenue, elevating its previous forecast of $5.84 billion issued in May.

The technology firm also adjusted its profitability metrics upward, projecting a full-year adjusted operating margin of 14.5%. That figure reflects an increase from the 13.5% margin target outlined three months prior.

Ahead of the earnings publication, Snowflake shares had logged a 39% advance for the year through Wednesday’s regular session close, outperforming the S&P 500 index’s 12% gain over the same timeframe.

Should the stock maintain its 22% trajectory once regular market trading opens Thursday morning, the move would represent the fourth-biggest single-day price increase for Snowflake since its 2020 initial public offering. Executive leadership scheduled a call with financial analysts for 5 p.m. Eastern time to dissect the quarter's operational performance.
