XRP traded at $1.43 as of Aug. 28, capping a 30-day advance of 33% driven by renewed market momentum and impending legislative developments, as first reported by Yahoo Finance.

A primary driver behind the recent price movement is political momentum in Washington. In mid-August, the U.S. Senate scheduled a Sept. 15 vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. If passed, the bill aims to provide a clearer regulatory framework for traditional financial institutions holding, trading, and settling transactions using digital assets.

Despite positive price action tied to potential policy shifts, market analysts point out a persistent disconnect between ledger usage and underlying asset valuation. While regulatory approval could increase institutional adoption of financial technologies, protocol economics present structural friction for long-term per-token value capture.

On-chain performance figures show the XRP Ledger generated $48,168 in transaction fees during the second quarter. Under the network's architectural framework, transaction fees are permanently burned to reduce circulating supply over time and theoretically bolster the value of remaining tokens.

However, fee burning remains significantly smaller than ongoing programmatic releases. Monthly circulating supply expanded by approximately 272 million XRP during the first half of 2026, driven by recurring releases from escrow vaults controlled by token issuer Ripple. Total supply for the digital asset remains capped at approximately 100 billion tokens.

According to calculations from asset manager 21Shares, network transaction fee revenue would need to increase by roughly 12,700 times to neutralize the inflationary impact of a single year's worth of escrow supply entering the public market. This imbalance highlights the operational gap between corporate utility agreements and direct token economics.

While analysts anticipate potential upside over 12-month and five-year horizons if broader cryptocurrency bull market catalysts materialize, ongoing supply expansion remains a critical focus for investors navigating institutional crypto assets.
