Twelve South Introduces Compact Valet Charger for Nightstands

Accessory manufacturer Twelve South has introduced a more compact version of its Valet charging station, which offers a dedicated space for electronic devices and personal items. This new model addresses feedback regarding the original's size, aiming for a better fit on smaller surfaces like bedside tables.

The new Valet charger features a reduced depth of 4.25 inches, a significant decrease from the 7.5 inches of the initial model. This adjustment allows for easier placement in confined areas. Despite the size reduction, the updated version retains the core functionalities and aesthetic elements of its predecessor.

Both the original and the new Valet models serve as organizational trays with an integrated wireless charging pad. The design emphasizes attention to detail, incorporating Nappa leather wrapping on the tray's top and frame. The frames are also interchangeable, offering customization options.

A subtle LED light array is positioned on the underside of the device. This light activates when a compatible device is placed on the charging base, providing visual confirmation of proper alignment and charging initiation.

Regarding charging specifications, the Valet supports Qi2 technology and includes magnets for devices compatible with magnetic charging. The new, smaller model offers an enhanced wireless fast-charging capability of up to 25W, an increase from the original model's 15W limit.

While the Valet includes a single wireless charging spot, it also features a USB-C port located on the bottom for additional charging needs. The total simultaneous power output is capped at 35W. The USB-C port can deliver up to 25W, provided the wireless charger is not actively in use.

Neither version of the Valet provides built-in wireless charging support for Apple Watches. Users wishing to charge a smartwatch or smart ring case will need to connect their respective charging cables to the integrated USB-C port.

The device incorporates a cable routing system on its underside, featuring tabs on each side to secure the power cable. This design, combined with raised feet, allows for flexible cable management and orientation of the Valet in various directions.

The new, more compact Valet is priced at $130, compared to the original model's $180. The company anticipates that the smaller footprint and enhanced charging capabilities will appeal to users seeking a streamlined charging solution for their personal space.
