Voyah Debuts Passion S Electric SUV Starting at $33,800 with Huawei Autonomous Driving Tech
The premium brand from Chinese automaker Dongfeng showcased its 800V high-voltage EV with a full 360-degree tunnel loop stunt ahead of European market expansion.

Dongfeng's luxury electric vehicle subsidiary, Voyah, has officially launched its new Passion S electric SUV in China, combining advanced autonomous driving hardware from Huawei with aggressive market pricing. The vehicle debuts with a base price of 229,900 yuan, or approximately $33,800.
The product launch was accompanied by high-profile footage showing a standard production model completing an inverted 360-degree loop along the ceiling of a closed test tunnel in Wuhan. As first reported by The Next Web, the stunt deliberately recreated a notable 2010 commercial originally conducted by Mercedes-Benz for its SLS AMG supercar.
Executing the stunt required strict dynamic parameters, with the vehicle striking the tunnel ramp at approximately 130 kilometers per hour with 16 degrees of steering lock. Voyah noted that a reduction in speed of just a few kilometers per hour would have caused the car to drop from the tunnel roof. To verify the stunt's authenticity, the company released unedited footage, which was accompanied by a leaked recording of an earlier unsuccessful attempt where a test vehicle fell from the ceiling.
Beyond marketing efforts, the Passion S is available across three distinct trim configurations, priced between 229,900 yuan and 279,900 yuan ($33,800 to $41,200). Constructed on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture, the SUV offers buyers either an 81 kWh or 98 kWh battery pack, delivering a China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) driving range between 630 kilometers and 740 kilometers.
The vehicle features 5C fast-charging capability capable of bringing the battery from 20% to 80% capacity in ten minutes. In its dual-motor powertrain configuration, the SUV generates 637 horsepower and 765 Nm of torque, achieving a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. The company also claims a 93.8% drivetrain efficiency rating for its integrated silicon carbide system.
Driver-assistance functionality is powered by telecommunications giant Huawei. The Passion S operates Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5.0 system, supported by a sensor array that includes a dual-path 896-line lidar and five 4D millimeter-wave radar units. The system provides automated parking along with assisted driving capabilities on both urban roads and highways.
The Chinese launch comes as Voyah continues to lay the groundwork for global distribution. In May, global automaker Stellantis established a joint venture to market and distribute the brand's electric vehicles across Europe, where Voyah already maintains active retail channels in Norway and the Netherlands.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers have continued to capture record market share within Europe's electrified vehicle sector. The combination of premium hardware and low pricing seen in the Passion S reflects an intense ongoing price war in China's domestic automotive market, where brands are increasingly relying on extreme marketing demonstrations to gain consumer visibility.
