Anthropic Expands Claude Startups Program with Discounts and API Credits
The AI lab is offering up to $45,000 in ecosystem perks and Claude Team seats to broaden its founder base amid competition with OpenAI and Google.

Anthropic has expanded its Claude Startups program, broadening eligibility and benefits for early-stage companies as competition among foundational AI vendors intensifies, according to a report by CNBC Business (https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/06/anthropic-claude-startups-program.html).
The initiative, which initially launched in May and already includes thousands of participating organizations, is designed to encourage founders to build software on top of Anthropic's model lineup. Under the expanded terms, eligible startups can receive up to $45,000 in discounts and promotional credits through a bundle Anthropic calls the Claude Startup Stack, described as benefits covering core operational software tools.
In addition to the software stack perks, accepted companies can receive a one-time $1,000 API credit and one year of free access to Claude Team for up to five premium seats. Participants also gain access to virtual office hours with Anthropic's applied AI engineering team and invitations to community networking events.
"Startups are often the first to push Claude to its limits," Beth Robertson, head of startups at Anthropic, said in a statement to CNBC. "When a new model ships, they're ready that same day to take on projects that used to seem out of reach. Claude Startups gives founders credits, tools and direct time with our team, so more companies can build this way from the start."
To qualify, companies must have been founded within the past five years or received funding within the past two years.
The push comes as Anthropic derives the vast majority of its revenue from commercial customers while defending market share against rival startup incentive programs run by OpenAI and Google. The developer is also preparing for an anticipated initial public offering, positioning developer adoption among early-stage builders as a key driver of sustained commercial growth.
