Isar Aerospace Achieves Orbit on Second Rocket Test Flight from Norway
The German spacetech company becomes the first private firm to reach orbit from European soil following an earlier launch failure.
German space technology company Isar Aerospace has successfully reached orbit during its second rocket test flight, which took place from a launch facility in Norway, Sifted reported.
The achievement marks the first time a privately developed launch vehicle has successfully attained orbit after launching from European soil, according to figures released by the company.
This milestone comes roughly a year and a half after Isar Aerospace conducted its inaugural test flight, which suffered a critical failure.
During that initial attempt, the company's rocket crashed less than 30 seconds after lifting off from the pad.
Following approximately 18 months of engineering adjustments and preparation, the firm returned to its Norwegian launch site to execute the second test.
The second flight met its key objectives by reaching target orbital altitude, demonstrating the progress of the company's launch platform.
The successful launch establishes a new benchmark for independent commercial space operations based directly within Europe.
