Apple Releases tvOS 27.2 With Profile Syncing and Expanded FaceTime Tools
The release marks the first update to tvOS since September, introducing multi-category screen saver shuffling and integrated Find My remote tracking.

Apple has released tvOS 27.2, introducing updated FaceTime controls, synchronized user profiles across devices, and expanded remote tracking in the Find My application. The rollout launched alongside iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 and serves as the first software update for Apple TV since tvOS 27 debuted in September, following Apple's omission of a 27.1 release, according to an analysis of Apple support documentation by Engadget (https://www.engadget.com/2302449/tvos-27-2-features-try-upgraded-apple-tv-experience/).
The update adds FaceTime link support to Apple TV, allowing users to join scheduled or shared calls directly on their television sets while continuing to use an iPhone as a Continuity Camera. FaceTime on tvOS now also supports live captioning services and third-party sign language interpreters, matching capabilities deployed across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Within the Apple TV app, select films and television programs now feature dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) tracks selectable through player controls or system settings.
For interface customization, tvOS 27.2 introduces a Shuffle option for screen savers that rotates between Aerials, Memories, Portraits, and Snoopy collections. Users can also select individual images from an iPhone for screen saver playback without granting the Apple TV access to their complete photo libraries. User profiles configured in the TV application on iOS 27.2 and iPadOS devices now synchronize automatically with Apple TV hardware, accompanied by new avatar character selections.
The update also modifies device management on older hardware: connected remotes now appear directly inside the standalone Find My app, eliminating the requirement to locate them via the Control Center remote interface. The update is available free of charge for the second-generation Apple TV 4K released in 2021 and subsequent models. Selected features, including surround sound configurations utilizing two pairs of HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers, remain restricted to the newly released Apple TV 4K powered by the A19 processor.
