Apple is set to increase the starting prices for its next generation of premium smartphones, with both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max slated to cost more than their predecessors, according to coverage first reported by Engadget's Devindra Hardawar and cited by Techmeme.

Under the new pricing scheme, the entry-level iPhone 18 Pro model will launch at a starting price of $1,199. Meanwhile, the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max model will open at a baseline price of $1,299.

The updated figures represent a direct $100 price increase across both models when compared to the starting prices of the outgoing iPhone 17 Pro lineup.

Alongside the pricing adjustment, the upcoming hardware includes physical modifications to the front display architecture. Specifically, the display design will feature a scaled-down cutout for the Dynamic Island hardware and software module.

The pricing structure and display design details were published on September 9, 2026, outlining the financial and physical specifications for the consumer technology giant's flagship smartphone family.

The $100 price increase across the Pro series reflects a notable shift in Apple's premium tier strategy as captured in Engadget's initial reporting and archived record.
