Google is ending support for Safety Signal, an emergency connectivity service for cellular-capable Pixel Watches, by the end of 2026, according to a report from Engadget (https://www.engadget.com/2281591/google-is-doing-away-with-safety-signal-on-pixel-watch/).

Safety Signal allowed LTE-enabled smartwatches to run core emergency functions—including emergency SOS, fall detection, and calling designated emergency contacts—without requiring a dedicated wireless carrier plan for the wearable.

The tool was offered exclusively on LTE-equipped models of the Google Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3. Support for the feature will phase out across both hardware generations.

In a support post cited by Engadget, Google stated that current users will receive email and push notifications with advance notice of the shutdown. The feature will remain active during a 30-day transition window starting from the notification date, with all access ending by December 12.

The underlying safety tools will not disappear entirely from affected hardware. Pixel Watch owners can continue using emergency SOS and fall detection as long as the device is connected to Wi-Fi, paired to a smartphone over Bluetooth, or assigned an active cellular line through a carrier.
