Leaked Specs Detail Lenovo's High-End 'Googlebook 15' Ahead of Platform Launch

Lenovo is preparing to release a high-specification laptop under Google's forthcoming Android-powered "Googlebook" platform, according to details reported by Engadget. The leaked information, originally published by MacObserver, outlines a premium device designed to showcase Google's new desktop ecosystem when the platform officially debuts later this year.

The upcoming clamshell device, named the Lenovo Googlebook 15, is slated to feature a 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen display. The panel reportedly operates at a 120Hz refresh rate with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 500 nits.

Underneath the chassis, the laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. Buyers will reportedly be able to configure the machine with either 16GB or 32GB of high-speed LPDDR5x RAM, alongside internal storage options of either 256GB or 512GB.

The Googlebook 15 represents one part of Lenovo's broader hardware roadmap for Google's new operating system initiative. In addition to the traditional 15-inch laptop form factor, the hardware manufacturer is reportedly engineering a tablet model that incorporates a detachable keyboard and trackpad accessory.

The robust internal components are expected to support Google's native Gemini Intelligence software suite. Among the planned software capabilities is Magic Cursor, a tool that adapts the operating system's pointer into a contextual interface for generating Gemini prompts. On the hardware side, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 also incorporates a "glowbar," which is a physical strip of multicolored LEDs.

The reported configuration marks a hardware escalation compared to Google's existing Chromebook Plus initiative. That previous framework required hardware partners to include at least 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and an Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 700 series processor to unlock specific AI capabilities. The higher hardware requirements of the Googlebook lineup point toward a higher retail price tier than typical Chromebook devices.
