Meta sees a broader enterprise opportunity than the business agent it launched in June. Mark Zuckerberg told investors that the company could sell APIs, customer-facing agents, internal productivity tools and possibly computing capacity to organizations ranging from small advertisers to large enterprises.

The first route uses Meta's existing relationships with millions of advertisers and businesses on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. Agents can handle customer support, sales and routine operations inside the messaging channels where those companies already communicate. Meta expects to be paid when the tools produce measurable business results.

The company is also building coding and internal productivity systems for its own employees. Zuckerberg said some of those tools could eventually become external products. That would move Meta into a market where Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, OpenAI and Anthropic already sell integrated enterprise assistants.

Compute sales are another possibility. Meta believes it can sell some capacity at a premium, but Zuckerberg cautioned against trading too much long-term infrastructure for short-term revenue. The company expects to need enormous computing resources for personal agents, recommendation systems and future devices.

Selling internal software externally can create a maintenance conflict. Meta may optimize a tool for its own enormous infrastructure, while customers need compatibility with Microsoft, Google and independent systems. A credible enterprise product should not require organizations to adopt Meta's architecture or messaging platforms simply to receive the best functionality.

Meta's enterprise opportunity will be judged against providers that already manage corporate identity, documents and compliance. The company has strong models and enormous infrastructure, but it lacks the same established position in business software as Microsoft, Google or Salesforce. Selling internal tools may create a starting point, especially for recommendation and content systems. Customers will still expect contractual support, regional hosting and a road map that does not change with consumer priorities. Meta must decide whether enterprise AI is a durable product line or a way to monetize spare capabilities built for advertising and social applications.

Enterprise sales require different capabilities from advertising. Customers demand contracts, support, compliance and predictable product road maps. Meta has scale and technical resources, but it must prove that businesses will trust it with internal work and sensitive data. The opportunity is large. So is the distance between a promising internal tool and a dependable enterprise product.
