Subtext, an award-winning platform that facilitates communication between media organizations, brands, artists, and creators and their audiences through text messaging, has been honored with the “Overall Conversational Marketing Company of the Year” award.

The recognition was presented as part of the 9th annual MarTech Breakthrough Awards, a program managed by MarTech Breakthrough. This organization specializes in market intelligence, focusing on advancements within the global marketing, sales, and advertising technology sectors.

Current trends indicate that media companies, brands, and creators are increasingly dependent on search engines, social media, and email for audience engagement and growth. However, obstacles such as algorithmic modifications, evolving platform regulations, and crowded inboxes are making it progressively difficult to reach target audiences effectively.

For close to a decade, the MarTech Breakthrough Awards have served as a definitive standard for innovation across the worldwide marketing, sales, and advertising technology landscape. The program highlights prominent companies and solutions across the entire MarTech spectrum, encompassing areas from marketing automation and customer experience to AdTech, SalesTech, RevOps, performance marketing, and content marketing.

The 2026 program attracted thousands of nominations from over 15 countries, underscoring the extensive scale and rapid evolution currently transforming the industry.

Steve Johansson, Managing Director at MarTech Breakthrough, commented on the selection, stating, "We are pleased to recognize Subtext as the recipient of our Overall Conversational Marketing Company of the Year award." He noted that the year’s awards program received thousands of nominations from various segments of the marketing stack, making the competition in this specific category particularly intense.

Johansson further explained that Subtext distinguished itself through the tangible results it has generated for clients in the media, sports, and entertainment industries. The company effectively demonstrated how a direct, permission-based conversational channel can foster stronger, more enduring, and financially beneficial relationships with audiences.

Following a significant expansion of its platform earlier this year, Subtext intends to continue enhancing its platform capabilities. This ongoing development is in response to the growing client demand for direct, owned audience relationships.

Subtext's client roster includes notable entities such as NBCUniversal, Sony Music, Warner Music, Hearst, Forbes, The Washington Post, and USA Today Network. The MarTech Breakthrough Awards program, a component of Tech Breakthrough, is dedicated to acknowledging excellence among marketing, advertising, and sales technology companies, products, and individuals. It offers a platform for public recognition of achievements by pioneering marketing technology firms and products in various categories.
