Livestreaming service Twitch suffered a significant platform outage on Thursday afternoon, preventing numerous users from accessing broadcasts across the site.
Data from service monitoring website Down Detector indicated that user reports of technical issues began rising sharply around 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The operational failure occurred almost immediately after a new promotional trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI aired on Netflix.
While the onset of the platform downtime coincided directly with the trailer launch, there is no evidence indicating a direct link between the two incidents.
The disruption left viewers unable to utilize the platform to broadcast or discuss the media release during the surge in public interest.
