Meta and Microsoft Cut Employee Use of Anthropic's Claude, Reports Show
Meta's internal user count for Claude Code has dropped from roughly 60,000 to 30,000 earlier this year as tech giants restrict reliance on external models.

Meta Platforms and Microsoft are actively working to scale back their employees' use of Anthropic's Claude artificial intelligence tools, according to reporting from The Information cited by Techmeme.
At Meta, internal adoption of Anthropic's coding-focused tool, Claude Code, has dropped by half, falling to approximately 30,000 employees from around 60,000 earlier this year.
Microsoft is undertaking a parallel effort to curtail employee access to Claude across its workforce. Both companies have significant competing artificial intelligence investments: Meta develops its own family of in-house models, while Microsoft relies heavily on its partnership with OpenAI and internal Copilot products.
The moves highlight growing pressure among leading technology platforms to consolidate developer workflows around in-house infrastructure and maintain closer control over enterprise model deployments.
