Meta Brings Generative AI Minigame App Pocket to US Users
The mobile creation platform lets users generate interactive 'gizmos' via text prompts and share them to a social feed.

Meta has officially launched Pocket in the United States, expanding access to its generative artificial intelligence application that allows users to build and share interactive software experiences using text prompts. The U.S. release follows a limited testing phase in Brazil, as first reported by Engadget.
Pocket functions as a creation platform for what Meta describes as "gizmos"—lightweight applications and minigames generated through simple user prompts. The platform provides a mobile environment where users can produce functional software without writing code.
Once created, these interactive projects are published to a vertical scrollable social feed. Platform users can scroll through the feed, save preferred gizmos to a favorites list, and repost creations directly to their own profiles for followers to view.
The software creations utilize a range of smartphone hardware capabilities. Generated gizmos can respond to physical touch inputs and device orientation changes via tilt sensors, while also incorporating external assets like digital photos and music tracks.
Saved creations stored on user profiles can also be repurposed by the broader community. Meta designed the platform with a remix feature, allowing users to modify existing gizmos and publish derivative versions to the feed.
Meta selected the term "gizmo" to reflect the broad scope of experiences supported on the app, which includes non-gaming tools such as interactive digital canvases. The terminology also connects to Meta's recruitment efforts, as the company recently hired nearly the entire development team behind a similar app called Gizmo, leading to that service's shutdown.
Pocket is currently available to U.S. mobile users at no cost, representing Meta's latest entry into consumer-facing generative AI tools.
The rollout fits into a broader push by Meta to embed generative AI mechanisms into its consumer products. Last year, the tech giant launched a feature named Vibes within its Meta AI app, providing users with a feed dedicated to AI-generated media.
Additionally, Meta's Facebook platform recently introduced features allowing members to modify and animate their profile photos using AI tools, continuing the company's focus on prompt-driven visual features across its portfolio.
