Reflection Unveils Open-Weight AI Model Beam for Coding and Agentic Workflows
The developer claims the model nears Qwen 3.8-Max benchmark levels while requiring three to four times less compute.

Artificial intelligence developer Reflection has introduced Beam, an open-weight AI model designed for software engineering and multi-step agentic workflows.
According to reporting aggregated by Techmeme from Semafor (https://www.techmeme.com/261005/p30#a261005p30), Reflection claims Beam achieves performance levels approaching Qwen 3.8-Max while requiring between three and four times less computational overhead than comparable models.
The developer positions the model specifically for coding logic and agent-driven tasks, which involve executing sequential instructions and interacting with external tools.
As an open-weight release, Beam permits developers and organizations to inspect, self-host, and fine-tune model parameters locally. Reflection's performance and efficiency metrics remain company-reported claims and have not yet been independently verified in third-party benchmark evaluations.
