San Jose-based semiconductor startup SiMa.ai has raised $150 million in a Series C funding round that values the business at $1.45 billion, as reported by The Next Web (https://thenextweb.com/news/sima-ai-150m-series-c-1-45bn-valuation-physical-ai). The company designs chips and software that enable robots, drones, and automobiles to execute artificial intelligence workloads locally on the device itself.

Fidelity Management & Research Company and Amplify co-led the financing. Participating returning and existing backers included Alter Venture Partners, Dell Technologies Capital, Maverick Capital, +ND Capital, Point72, and StepStone Group. AllianceBernstein, Baron Capital, J.P. Morgan, and the State of Michigan joined as new investors.

The transaction brings SiMa.ai's total funding to $500 million. PitchBook data previously cited by TechCrunch noted the startup was valued at $960 million following an $85 million Series B round in July 2025.

Founded in 2018 by Chief Executive Officer Krishna Rangasayee, previously chief operating officer at chipmaker Groq, SiMa.ai markets its hardware as a lower-power, lower-cost alternative to Nvidia graphics processing units for physical AI—machines that sense and act in physical environments. The company claims its software and hardware platform reduces deployment times from months to days or hours.

"While others are still figuring out the pieces or repurposing their cloud offerings, we’ve built the entire puzzle," Rangasayee said.

SiMa.ai stated that the capital will fund the scaling of Palette Neat, its agentic software environment for developers, as well as the development of new hardware scheduled for release in the first half of 2028. The company projects this future silicon will deliver 1,000 dense trillions of operations per second (TOPS), a standard metric for measuring AI chip throughput.

The planned product roadmap includes machine learning intellectual property, chiplets, and systems-on-chip tailored for drones, humanoid robots, driver assistance systems, and AI-enabled vehicle cockpits.

While SiMa.ai did not disclose specific dollar figures, it stated that its revenue quadrupled year over year between 2024 and 2025. The company's disclosed customers and partners include Bosch, Emerson, Micron, Synopsys, and TRUMPF.

The investment arrives amid continued deal activity in edge computing silicon. Analog Devices recently agreed to acquire edge AI chipmaker Alif for $1.35 billion, while NEURA and SECO are partnering to manufacture robotics compute modules in Europe.
