Advanced Micro Devices crossed a $1 trillion market capitalization for the first time on Monday after its stock surged 10 percent to a record intraday high of $615.52, according to reporting by CNBC Technology .

The surge extends a five-day winning streak during which AMD shares have climbed roughly 25 percent. The rally follows a dip last month after the company released second-quarter financial results; while earnings beat consensus expectations, AMD's forward guidance fell short of elevated investor targets.

Artificial intelligence hardware demand drove the bulk of the company's recent expansion. AMD generated $11.54 billion in total revenue during the second quarter, up 50 percent from $7.69 billion a year earlier. Within that total, Data Center segment revenue rose 107 percent year over year to $6.7 billion.

AMD's stock is up more than 180 percent this year. Even with the milestone valuation, the company trails market leader Nvidia, which holds a market capitalization of approximately $5.4 trillion and commands the majority of the market for AI data center processors.

Broader enterprise spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure has shown few signs of slowing, despite growing public backlash against data center development and persistent scrutiny over the safety of large language models.

Executive forecasts point to continued expansion across the sector. On AMD's earnings call last month, Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su said the company expects to double its data center sales in 2027. Last week, Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang signaled ongoing demand across the silicon supply chain, stating that Nvidia expects to double the volume of chips it sells next year.
