Dell Technologies Inc. has announced updates to its AI Data Platform designed to streamline how enterprises prepare and serve data for autonomous AI workflows, as reported by SiliconANGLE (https://siliconangle.com/2026/10/06/agentic-era-dell-ai-data-platform-thecube-dellaidataplatform/).

The platform expansion adds three major features to the Dell Data Orchestration Engine: a Unified Semantic Layer, an Enterprise Knowledge Graph, and Knowledge Agents. Dell also updated its Data Processing Engine to run on graphics processing units using Nvidia Corp.’s cuDF library, aiming to accelerate enterprise data preparation.

The architecture focuses on reducing latency and redundant data movement across infrastructure layers. By linking the Data Processing Engine directly with storage systems such as PowerScale, ObjectScale, and the Lightning File System, the platform enables zero-copy data access, memory-to-memory transfers, and distributed processing.

Enterprise bottlenecks are shifting away from raw model capacity toward data pipeline efficiency, according to Arthur Lewis, president of Dell's Infrastructure Solutions Group. Speaking on SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio theCUBE, Lewis noted that the AI Data Platform serves as the underlying foundation within the Dell AI Factory to curate and route enterprise information to agentic systems.

Storage throughput remains central to maintaining GPU utilization across large deployments. Dell reported that PowerScale supports configurations scaling up to 16,000 GPUs, while ObjectScale delivers up to 40 gigabytes per second per node. Dell’s AI Storage product team positioned its Lightning parallel file system for high-throughput training, checkpointing, and intensive inference workloads.

To address challenges with fragmented enterprise data, the Unified Semantic Layer generates consistent business definitions across structured and unstructured data using open models with human-in-the-loop validation, according to Vrashank Jain, lead product manager for Dell’s AI Data Platform. The system automatically connects tables, vector indexes, images, and query histories into an Enterprise Knowledge Graph. Organizations can then deploy specialized Knowledge Agents equipped with explicit access controls, quality guardrails, and token-cost constraints.

The updates reflect a structural shift toward agentic data centers where software agents execute operational tasks and interact with human supervisors primarily for review and approvals, according to Gaurav Chawla, vice president and Dell fellow. Analysts at theCUBE Research noted that enterprise infrastructure competition is increasingly defined by the efficiency of the underlying data path rather than standalone compute capacity.
