Netflix has announced The Conjuring: Unspoken, an interactive horror title set in The Conjuring universe that will launch exclusively on the streaming service on October 13, according to a report by The Verge .

The game is structured as a living-room narrative investigation where players use their smartphones as controllers while viewing the virtual environment on a television screen. Players step into the role of demonologist Francesca Noakes, exploring the Red Lion Inn in England and shaping the narrative through branching dialogue choices.

Gameplay incorporates mobile-driven paranormal tools, including an electromagnetic field reader, a spirit box, and an infrared camera. When operating the infrared camera, the smartphone displays a thermal overlay to assist players in locating cold spots tied to apparitions.

Netflix noted that familiar franchise characters appear during the game and that familiarity with the backstory enhances the experience, while stating that players need to have seen The Conjuring films to play.

The title was developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind narrative horror releases including Until Dawn and The Quarry. The announcement follows recent workforce reductions at the developer, which announced plans in August to lay off up to 75 staff members; a former IT and facilities director stated on LinkedIn that more than 70 people would be leaving the studio.

The release follows Netflix's June launch of another horror title, Unhinged, created by Oxenfree developer Night School. Netflix subsequently shut down Night School in August.
