Apple TV Refresh Reportedly Adds Built-In Mic, Remote Speaker, and A19 Chip
Upcoming hardware updates are expected to enable hands-free Siri commands, easier remote tracking, and smarter home hub functionality.

Apple is preparing a refresh for the Apple TV that adds an integrated microphone to the main console and a speaker to its accompanying remote, according to details reported by The Verge (https://www.theverge.com/tech/1009397/apple-tv-refresh-built-in-mic-remote-speaker).
The built-in microphone would allow users to issue hands-free voice commands to Siri directly through the set-top box, removing the requirement to speak into the remote or route queries through a nearby HomePod. The change would also position the device to function as a standalone smart home hub for tasks such as controlling thermostats and locking doors without physical access to the remote.
The updated remote control includes a built-in speaker designed to emit audio alerts, making it easier to locate when lost under furniture or misplaced around the home.
Under the hood, the streaming device is expected to upgrade to an A19 processor to support Siri artificial intelligence capabilities.
The refreshed Apple TV is expected to begin shipping on October 30 alongside an updated HomePod Mini.
