Uli Latukefu Reportedly Cast as Ganondorf in 'The Legend of Zelda' Film
Speculation arises regarding the casting of the primary antagonist for the upcoming Nintendo film adaptation.

Details surrounding Sony's anticipated film adaptation of Nintendo's *The Legend of Zelda* remain largely undisclosed, despite its scheduled release being less than a year away. While lead actors and initial imagery have been revealed, specific plot details and additional casting information have been kept confidential.
However, a recent report by New York Times reporter Kyle Buchanan suggests a significant casting development. According to Buchanan, Uli Latukefu has been cast in the role of Ganondorf, the central antagonist within the *Zelda* franchise.
The inclusion of Ganondorf in the film aligns with the game series' narrative, although the specific storyline the movie will follow, and the actor portraying the villain, had previously been subjects of discussion. Sony has not yet provided official comment regarding Latukefu's reported casting.
Latukefu is recognized for his portrayal of Dwayne Johnson in the television series *Young Rock*, a role that showcased his physical presence and charisma. His prior work also includes a smaller part alongside Johnson in *Black Adam* and a leading role in Taika Waititi’s film *Next Goal Wins*. Additionally, he has appeared in *Alien: Covenant* and *MaXXXine*.
His experience suggests an actor capable of embodying an imposing figure, which would be fitting for the character of Ganondorf, especially if the role involves substantial prosthetics. This casting would position Latukefu to present a formidable challenge to the film's protagonist, Link.
The movie, directed by Wes Ball and featuring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason in starring roles, is currently slated for release on April 30, 2027. This date would position it as an early entry in the summer blockbuster season of that year.
Initial announcements regarding the film's lead cast were made through the Nintendo Today app. The release date for Sony's live-action *The Legend of Zelda* was initially set for March 26, 2027, but was later adjusted to May 7, 2027.
